Hypocrisy

So few things irritate me quite like hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is a bane on the legitimacy of one's ideals. When discussing touchy issues such as religion and politics it is so important to be consistent. One truly only has his reputation to lean on when attempting to persuade another into their own point of view.

This is the exact reason why so many non-Christians despise Christianity. They see those who call themselves "Christians" acting in very "unChristian" ways. Such is the wisdom of the Bible when it states that we should not be lukewarm but rather either hot or cold. It is not entirely for our own sakes that we should be either hot or cold but also for the sake of others.

Whether fair or not we all have labels hanging over our heads in the eyes of others. If someone see's me as a Christian and I am not acting Christ-like, it will quite possibly forever taint my legitimacy as a Christian in that person's eyes. I could be the most pious, God fearing man alive from that moment on but the non-Christian will still bring to mind my unChristian ways.

It is for this reason that I believe it is time for conservatives to drop the outrage over the mosque near ground-zero.

Private property rights.

How will those conservatives calling for the government to block this mosque being built ever be taken seriously again when speaking about the fundamental right of private property? How will we be able to tell those who oppose us that they are morally wrong for infringing on our rights if we are so willing to do the same to someone else. This is hypocrisy and it is wrong.

There is more to be covered on this topic, however, I just do not have the energy at the moment to tackle it.
